At Dutchview, our team is not limited to one office. We work together from different cities and sometimes even different countries. One of the people who proves that distance is no barrier to collaboration is Sebastian, Marketing Specialist for Ed Controls Germany, who works remotely while staying closely connected to the team in Deventer.
A background built around cultures and communication
Sebastian’s international focus started long before he joined Dutchview. During his studies, he chose a very specific programme that already connected Germany and the Netherlands.
“I started my Bachelor’s degree in Dutch-German Relations. I chose this very specific program because I grew up fairly close to the Netherlands and always liked the country, but also because of the versatility of the degree.”
During his Master’s at Utrecht University, he applied for an internship at Dutchview, which later turned into a full-time role.
From internship to Ed Controls Germany
Sebastian started as an intern, but his role quickly grew into a specialised marketing position focused on the German market for Ed Controls.
“My work now includes overseeing all German marketing channels, and I’m responsible for event organisation, Google Ads, content creation, SEO, and LLM optimisation, as well as reporting results and developing new strategies to further grow in the German market.”
With Ed Controls expanding internationally, his background in intercultural communication turned out to be a perfect match. Marketing in Germany is not just about translation, but about understanding how people think, communicate, and make decisions.
Remote working from Germany
Sebastian currently works remotely from Germany, often from Berlin or Münster, while staying fully involved in the daily work at Dutchview.
“I truly value the opportunity to work remotely at Dutchview. It allows me to work from different places depending on where I am at the time. This can be Berlin, where I currently live with my fiancée, Münster, where my family and friends are, or sometimes the UK when visiting family.”
Remote working gives him flexibility, but the connection with the team remains strong through meetings, projects, and regular visits to the office. His workdays are just as varied as his locations. “One day I might be working on content or translations, the next day on Google Ads, SEO, event organisation, or analysing campaign results.”
A culture of flexibility and trust
According to Sebastian, one of the things that stood out when he joined Dutchview was the company culture. “I immediately noticed the personal atmosphere throughout the whole company. I could clearly recognise typical Dutch characteristics such as low hierarchies and direct communication. I really liked this, and it helped me settle into the company quickly.”
Even with hybrid and remote working, the team stays connected through regular team days, office lunches, and shared projects. “There is a strong sense of flexibility in how you reach your goals, and when someone suggests a good idea, there is usually the opportunity to try it out and prove that it works.”

Growing the German market together
For Sebastian, the most rewarding part of his job is seeing the direct impact of his work, especially when marketing and sales come together. “Working closely together with Sales is very rewarding, especially when marketing efforts pay off, and targets are achieved. Seeing new customers that can be directly linked to marketing activities is very satisfying. For me, this is the core of marketing. When you see that your work directly contributes to growth, it gives a strong sense of purpose.”
Looking ahead, he wants to continue building Ed Controls in Germany and take on even more responsibility, while staying closely connected to the team in Deventer.
One team, different locations
Sebastian’s story shows how Dutchview keeps growing beyond borders. With colleagues working remotely, products expanding internationally, and teams collaborating every day, distance has become part of how we work.
Whether from Deventer, Berlin, Münster, or somewhere in between, we stay one team, working together to make Ed Controls and Dutchview stronger every day.
